Instruction on access to the CNU Residence Hall

  1. A. To create an academic atmosphere and to prevent any theft of goods in the building(s), non residents of the CNU Residence Hall are not allowed to enter the building(s).
  2. B. Visitors meet residents at the entrance of the building(s) after contacting residents first.
  3. C. Use a fingerprint recognition scanner or a smart card to enter the building(s).
    1. 1) Residents entering each building should identify themselves by using a fingerprint recognition scanner or a smart card.
    2. 2) Those who register fingerprints or use a smart card are authorized to freely enter the building(s). Accompanying unauthorized people into the building(s) is prohibited.
    3. 3) Unauthorized entry into the building(s) except for using a front door is strictly forbidden. Those who are caught attempting to enter the building(s) illegally will be duly punished pursuant to “regulations for residents.”

How to
conduct inspection
  • When residents are absent during the regular inspection, put a “Please visit again”sticker on the door of the room
  • When residents are still absent during a revisit, penalty points (three) are imposed for “Non-recipience of regular inspections.” (Residents should contact their residence assistant before the inspection day if they cannot attend a room inspection due to unavoidable circumstances)
  • Penalty points are imposed based on tidiness status of the room and the extent of disturbing an academic atmosphere.
  • Smoking in the room leads to compulsory move-out without warning. Penalty points (five) are imposed when finding traces of smoking.
  • Unauthorized use of electronic products can lead to temporary confiscation and compulsory move-out.
Others
  • Overnight stay: Fill out in the section of destination and contact information for “Application for overnight stay” from the website of the CNU Residence Hall and submit before the day of overnight stay. Non-application is regarded as an unauthorized overnight and penalty points (one) are imposed.
  • In case of delayed return to the building, residents are allowed to enter the building after identifying themselves. However, penalty points (one) are imposed for delayed return (Unauthorized entry of non-residents leads to penalty points and move-out).
  • Download the application form for delayed return from the website of the CNU Residence Hall, have the form confirmed with parents and submit it to a residence assistant (No penalty points are imposed if the application form for delayed return are submitted and the forms are approved by a residence assistant).

※ Please note that only residents can enter the building(s) by using a fingerprint recognition scanner or a smart card! Please stop non residents from entering the building with you to protect your own rights!

Fire Evacuation Drill(s)

Once at the first half of the year and second half of the year, respectively (more than twice a year).

  1. 1) Learn how to use a fire exit and evacuate properly during the fire evacuation drill(s)
  2. 2) Become well-acquainted with the fire escape plan on the door of each room and learn how to use a fire extinguisher
  3. 3) A joint fire evacuation drill is estimated to be held with a fire department for the fire evacuation drill at the second half of the year
  4. 4) Voluntary participants in the fire evacuation drills are expected to receive award points (two).

Residents are obligated to join the regular fire evacuation drills.

Affairs for Residents’ Living Guidance

Residents’ cooperation is greatly appreciated to maintain an orderly cohabitation and safe and convenient living for residents, efficiently manage the CNU Residence Hall and foster mutual understanding and respect among residents.

Administration Office of the CNU Residence Hall

The administration office can handle the overall residents’ living guidance to maintain an orderly cohabitation, which is as follows:

  1. 1) Management of residents and overall guidance
  2. 2) Residence-related administrative affairs
  3. 3) Management of labor scholarship assistants and students
  4. 4) Handling of residents’ affairs and complaints

Labor Scholarship Assistants (assistants of each building)

Labor scholarship assistants of each building assist the administration office with the following affairs.

  1. 1) Cooperation in move-in and move-out
  2. 2) Cooperation in Bandi Festival
  3. 3) Regular inspection of the CNU Residence Hall and management of rooms
  4. 4) Management of residents and cooperation in guidance works
  5. 5) Counseling and processing affairs and complaints for residents
  6. 6) Management of reward and penalty points

Labor Scholarship Students (representatives of each building)

Labor scholarship students of each building assist labor scholarship assistants with the following affairs.

  1. 1) Assistance with the management of move-in and move-out
  2. 2) Reception of residents’ complaints and living guidance
  3. 3) Regular inspection of the CNU Residence Hall and assistance with the management of rooms
  4. 4) Assistance with other administrative works
  5. 5) Assistance with Bandi Festival and fire drills

How to Respond to a Fire

  1. A. Use a fire extinguisher or a fire hydrant to immediately extinguish a fire in early stages.
  2. B. Call 119, a maintenance office or a situation room.
  3. C. Become well-acquainted with a fire facility plan in the central area of each building and evacuate the building in a timely manner and/or extinguish a fire promptly when a fire occurs.

How to Use a Fire Extinguisher and a Fire Hydrant

pull out the safety pin → aim at the base of the fire → squeeze the levers → sweep from side to side
Fire hydrant inside a building
push the building fire alarm to warn people about a fire, open the fire hydrant cover and take out a nozzle and a fire hose ? Others unfold a hose and turn the fire hydrant valve(s) when a person holding a nozzle is ready to spray water ? aim at the base of the fire and spray water

Instruction on Discharging Garbage

  1. A. Use garbage bags, separate garbage and throw garbage into designated garbage bins.
  2. B. Illegal dumping and littering within the CNU Residence Hall and/or violating rules for discharging garbage can lead to penalty points and compulsory move-out.

Handling Residents’ Complaints

Try to call the number(s) listed below or make a report at the website of the CNU Residence Hall in case of emergency (occurrence in patients with certain diseases or sickness and fire), complaints (disturbance, noise and equipment-related issues) and other requests.
