Research interests
Seong Young Kwon’s lab is performing research on the following topics using microorganisms expressing pre-targeted proteins.
1. Development of a pre-targeted drug delivery system in a animal tumor model
- When a tumor targeting microorganism is administered into the body, it has a unique characteristic of targeting specifically only in tumor tissues.
- We are performing the research about a next-generation drug delivery system that could increase the tumor delivery efficiency of the therapeutic agent by directly expressing the pre-targeted protein in the tumor tissues and secondarily administering the therapeutic agents.
- Avidin was used as a pre-targeted protein and a biotinylated imaging agent was developed. In addition, we are conducting research on administering biotinylated therapeutic agents after visualizing tumor tissues using molecular imaging techniques.
2. Development of microbial visualization system in the body using pre-targeted protein
- Pre-targeted proteins such as avidin are expressed and could be fixed in microorganisms
- We are also performing the research to visualize the distribution of microorganisms in the body by using a biotinylated imaging agent after administering microorganisms to the body through various routes using nuclear medicine and molecular imaging techniques.
