Research interests
Prof. Kyung-Sub Moon, as a clinician who operates and treats patients with intractable brain tumors, aims to develop new treatment strategy for patients who have to accept a fixed fate despite surgery and chemotherapy He are conducting a joint experiment with Prof. Kyung-Hwa Lee of the Department of Pathology, to discover clinical phenotypes based on major clinical features such as survival period, recurrence, and radiological changes. Furthermore, He tries to clarify underlying mechanism for these clinical phenotypes, through joint research with various basic research groups.
1. Invasion/metastasis and modulation of tumor microenvironment in malignant glioma and metastatic brain tumor
- CCL20 induced by KITENIN contribure immunosuppression through increase of monocytic MDSC in malignant glioma
- Role CAF in metastatic brain tumor based on analysis of differently expressed genes between CAF and normal fibroblast.
- Immune profile analysis of metastatic brain tumor, compared to oring breast cancer.
2. Therapeutic resistance in malignant brain tumor through EMT and cancer stemness
- Role of KITENIN in therapeutic resistance against temozolomide in glioblastoma, possibly based on the MGMT methylation status
- Twist1 in sarcomatous change in glioblastoma
- Identifying prognostic factors for therapeutic resistance in glioblastoma and eludation of their mechanism based on genetic data analysis of paired human samples
3. New therapeutic strategy for intractable intracranial meningioma & SFT/HPC based on genetic analysis for resected patients samples
