Research interests

Tae-Hoon Lee’s lab is performing research on the topics listed below using genetic modified and disease-inducing mouse as a model organism. In particular, we are conducting drug screening and identification of the function of proteins that are involved in musculoskeletal diseases.

Host response to Inflammation. The elderly people are more susceptible to diverse pathogens for the development of destructive disease as Gout, Arthritis and Osteoporosis. Our Lab. focused that identification and screening of target molecules mediated inflammation signaling using in vitro human primary cells and in vivo mouse model. We also want to isolate natural compound or synthetic chemicals like as therapeutic agents for human inflammatory disease.

The role of antioxidant enzymes in cellular signaling. Our study was to investigate redox balance in inflammatory bone disease and muscle atrophy. We have examined that how oxidative stress and antioxidants do contributes to acceleration of abnormality as osteoarthritis and hind limb-suspended muscle atrophy. However, it is still not completely understood what triggers the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) during pathogenesis.
